DataHorizon - Adding Value to Remote Data
DataHorizon offers a flexible approach 'Oilfield MultiMesh' to onshore data
collection, using the latest wireless mesh technologies:
- WellMesh Network
- FieldMesh Network
- Field Hub Server
- Data Distribution Server

WellMesh Network
|
The local area WellMesh
network is designed to collect data from multiple sensors at a well site
without the need for power or communications cabling between sensors. Robust,
reliable data delivery is achieved using a low power ZigBee™ mesh network to
communicate over the local well site area. To simplify commissioning and
deployment, devices are self-configuring and form an efficient self-healing
mesh.The
WellMesh Hub gathers data from WellMesh Sensors and forwards it across the wide
area FieldMesh network towards the Data Distribution Server.
The WellMesh Hub
is normally located on a pole or tower to achieve maximum radio range to other
devices in the wide area FieldMesh Network.

FieldMesh Network
The wide area FieldMesh network is designed for applications which require a robust, reliable data delivery system over a wide area. To simplify commissioning and deployment, devices are self-configuring and form an efficient self-healing mesh. The network tolerates changes in the RF environment and the addition or removal of devices. Routing within the network is self-organising and supports point-to-point as well as central data collection or control.
The FieldMesh Wide Area Gateway gathers data from remote nodes in the wide area network. Data is passed via
cable to the Field Hub Server. The FieldMesh Wide Area Gateway is normally located on a pole or tower to achieve maximum radio range to other devices in the FieldMesh Network
.

Field Hub Server
| A key component in data acquisition at the onshore oilfield is the Field Hub Server, which gathers data from the Wide Area Gateway of the
FieldMesh network, and buffers it prior to sending it to the Data Distribution
Server.
|
|
The Field Hub Server is designed for extended maintenance free operation in a remote oilfield environment. All critical components are duplicated to form a dual-redundant system.
Often transmission links from the oilfield can be intermittent, particularly if the field is offshore, or in remote land locations. The Field Hub Server and the Data Distribution Server work as a “team” to manage whatever bandwidth is available, whenever it is available, to get the data back to base, reliably and without unnecessary retransmission.

Data Distribution Server
The Data Distribution Server is typically located in the oil company office. It gathers data from one or more remote Field Hub Servers into a datastore, and then makes this data available in the appropriate format for Oil Company central databases.
Once retrieved, the data can also be passed on selectively to oilfield partners, if required. Optionally, this data can also be made available to a DataHorizon Webserver, publishing the data onto the company intranet, or via a secure internet website.

DataHorizon's MultiMesh approach uses the latest mesh technologies for reliable
and cost-effective retrieval of data from remote onshore locations to oil company engineers.
